The Fairfax at Embassy Row Grand Opening Made History
THE PARTY – The Fairfax has elegantly stood as a gathering place for Embassy Row’s elite for nearly a century, but a revamp of its common areas has given it iconic status in the modern age. That’s why 200 DC power players headed to the landmark to get a first look and raise a cheer to the destination (operated by Pyramid Hotel Group), its designers (Rockwell Group) and their vision. THE PEOPLE – VIPs, including DC magazine Woman of Style Kelly Collis and Editor-in-Chief Kristen Schott (Modern Luxury was an event partner), hair stylist Jerome Obry and the ever-stylish Barnette Holston wandered into The Nook to try their hand at chess. And at The SALLY, they posed in front of a custom mural, then stretched out on the emerald-green velvet sofas and nibbled on lobster ceviche from laid-back executive chef Ricardo Planas. BEST IN SHOW – General Manager David Hendrix spoke on the new aesthetic of the classic space, and, together, the group toasted its transformative future.
